Wi-Fi VS CPL, choose between these 2 technologies

By Aqeel Qureshi

Wi-Fi as the GPL, can transmit data in two different modes
Wireless Fidelity, Wi-Fi for its abbreviation, is one of the tools used to release stress when wired wants to connect to the Internet remotely.
Like WiFi, the PLC (Powerline Communication) allows you to connect remotely over the Internet via the electrical wiring. It is a useful complement to WiFi to build a network without being invaded by the cables.

WiFi, how does it work?

The Wi-Fi is based on the 802.11 standard and the 2.4 GHz radio frequency to establish communication and exchange of data between two or more computers. This technology still has limitations, particularly related to the distance and the different obstacles (walls) that may occur.
The scope of Wi-Fi is in theory than 300 meters in open terrain, it is limited to twenty meters indoors.

The theoretical throughput is 54 Mbps, but with distance, it can get up to 10 Mbps.
To receive the Wi-Fi requires that your computer is equipped with a WiFi card (PCMCIA) or USB WiFi.
To make the signal and create a wireless access point, you must:
Consider a router to route data to different positions connected
Either a modem or ADSL box
To configure the network, he must go to the Control Panel, line wireless network.
NB: Remember to secure your Wi-Fi is changing the password by default and selecting a WEP key at least 128 bits.

The CPL, what is its role?

The PLC technology, which uses the electrical wiring of the house to transmit data, can be a complement to Wi-Fi then Exit barriers wall. In addition, it allows either to extend the reach of its Wi-Fi or secure data. Indeed, with LPG, the problems of network security are easier to manage because the electric meter acts as a filter. Moreover adapters often provide the encryption of data.
The CPL boasts a range of 250 meter range and its implementation is very simple. Simply just plug the adapter into the outlet and connect it to the desired computer or your ISP's box by Ethernet cable.

After you have nothing to do, after a few minutes, the computer receives the signal and you can easily connect to the Internet.
In general, CPL Kits deliver a theoretical throughput of 200 Mbit / s. In reality, it takes on a rate of 40 Mbit / s.
It is quite enough to surf broadband and receive images in High Definition. Moreover, these kits allow CPL set priorities for use.
